12 Mas a la caída del sol sobrecogió el sueño a Abram, y he aquí que el temor de una grande oscuridad cayó sobre él.

In business, sleeping or silent partners don't work but still take home huge profits. They are like the wife of the boxing champion. He gets badly beaten up to win the prize money. But when he gets home, his wife takes it from him and says, ‚"Thank you very much, darling!‚"

Do you know that in your covenant with God, you are like the boxer's wife or the sleeping partner?

When Abraham asked God how he would know for sure that he would in- herit the land that God had promised him, God made a covenant with him. (Genesis 15:8-21) But instead of cutting the covenant with Abraham by walking in between the animal pieces with him, God put Abraham into a deep sleep and cut the covenant with Jesus instead.

Jesus, the light of the world, appeared as the pillar of fire and cut the covenant with God the Father who appeared as the pillar of cloud. In other words, Jesus took Abraham's place. He was perfect Man representing Abraham when He cut the covenant with His Father.

By substituting Abraham with Jesus, God was being gracious because if Abraham had done it, he would also have been responsible for keeping the cov- enant. And Abraham, being a mere man, would fail. But God the Son can never fail! Abraham's blessings were therefore guaranteed because they did not depend on his performance but Jesus' performance. Abraham was literally a sleeping partner, a beneficiary of the covenant.

Today, God has also made a covenant with you, called the new covenant. And like Abraham, you are a sleeping partner because the new covenant was also cut between God the Father and God the Son at Calvary. You are simply a beneficiary of the new covenant. You enjoy all its benefits without having to work at keeping it. Jesus, your representative, has already fulfilled all the conditions on your behalf. And because His obedience is perfect and His work is perfectly finished, the covenant blessings for you are guaranteed!

My friend, there is nothing left for you to do, but everything for you to believe. Don't try to work for your covenant blessings. Rest in the Son's finished work and receive them by faith!

Your covenant blessings are guaranteed because Jesus, your representative, has already fulfilled all the conditions on your behalf.

En los negocios, socios comanditarios o en silencio no funcionan pero aún así llevarse a casa grandes ganancias. Son como la esposa del campeón de boxeo. Él se paliza para ganar el dinero del premio. Pero cuando llega a casa, su mujer me la quita y le dice:? "Muchas gracias, querida??"
¿Sabe usted que en su pacto con Dios, usted es como la esposa del boxeador o el socio para dormir?

Sus bendiciones del pacto están garantizados, porque Jesús, su representante, ya ha cumplido todas las condiciones en su nombre.

God was saying that the people would one day possess land in Canaan, but in God's plan, only God's ownership was absolute. He wanted his people to avoid greed and materialism. If you have the attitude that you are taking care of the Lord's property, you will make what you have more available to others. This is difficult to do if you have an attitude of ownership. Think of yourself as a manager of all that is under your care, not as an owner.

What Do We Do?

In the world we live in, we are going to have all kinds of problems, frustrations and difficulties. That's just life. So knowing this, what do we do?

We must remain steadfast and persevere. In other words, the answer is never give up! No matter what's going on in our lives, the victory is in refusing to quit.

Keep in mind that in the heat of our struggles, the Holy Spirit is probably doing His greatest work within us. He is not moved by the circumstances. If you and I really trust Him, we shouldn't be either! He's not in our lives for good times only, but for the difficult times as well.

He will lead us through anything if we'll just hang in there and follow Him. This means being diligent in prayer, relentless in our resolve, unwavering in faith, and determined to stand firmly on God's Word and His promises to us.

So many times we can be sidetracked by how slowly things seem to be going. In fact, the enemy loves to point that out! But remember, that's when God may be doing some of His greatest work. You see, it's not all about you and me. The Lord's work in us is preparation for the work He wants to do through us!

I know life can be hard sometimes. But I also know that God will help us if we remain steadfast. Let's stand on Galatians 6:9: "So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up" (NLT).

So let me ask that question again: What do we do? My answer is, never give up! What's your answer?

Prayer Starter: God, I believe that You are at work in my life, even during difficult times. I choose today to remain steadfast and to never give up in obedience to You.

¿Qué hacemos?

En el mundo en que vivimos, vamos a tener todo tipo de problemas,frustraciones y dificultades. Así es la vida. Así que sabiendo esto,¿qué hacemos?

Debemos permanecer firmes y perseverar. En otras palabras, la respuesta nunca se dé por vencido! No importa lo que está pasandoen nuestras vidas, es la victoria, al negarse a dejar de fumar.

Tenga en cuenta que en el calor de nuestras luchas, el Espíritu Santo está haciendo probablemente su obra más grande dentro de nosotros. No es movido por las circunstancias. Si usted y yo realmenteconfiar en Él, no hay que ser! No está en nuestras vidas para los buenos tiempos, sino para los tiempos difíciles también.

Él nos guiará a través de cualquier cosa si sólo tendremos que colgar en él y seguirlo. Esto significa ser diligente en la oración, implacables en nuestra determinación, inquebrantable en la fe, y decidido amantenerse firme en la Palabra de Dios y sus promesas para nosotros.

Así que muchas veces puede ser desviado por la lentitud con que las cosas parecen estar yendo. De hecho, el enemigo le encanta señalar eso! Pero recuerde, que es cuando Dios puede estar haciendoalgunas de sus mejores trabajos. Ya ves, no todo es acerca de usted y de mí. La obra del Señor en nosotros es la preparación para el trabajoque quiere hacer a través de nosotros!

Sé que la vida puede ser difícil a veces. Pero también sé que Diosnos ayudará si nos mantenemos firmes. Pongámonos de pie enGálatas 6:09: "Así que no se cansa de hacer lo que es bueno en el momento justo vamos a cosechar una cosecha de bendiciones si nose dan por vencidos." (NVI).

Así que me hace esa pregunta otra vez: ¿Qué hacemos? Mi respuestaes, nunca te rindas! ¿Cuál es tu respuesta?

Starter Oración: Dios, creo que está en el trabajo en mi vida, incluso durante tiempos difíciles. Elijo hoy para permanecer firme y nunca darse por vencido en la obediencia a Ti.
